Terms of Service

Last updated: 11 October 2026

These terms govern your use of CardV: the website at cardv.net, the Merchant Portal, the Merchant API, the sandbox, the CardV redemption pages and the CardV plugins, including CardV Gift Cards for WooCommerce. "CardV", "we" and "us" mean the operator of cardv.net. "You" means the business that holds a CardV merchant account, and the people it authorises to use it.

By applying for an account, using the API or installing a CardV plugin, you accept these terms. If you sign a separate written agreement with CardV, that agreement prevails where the two differ.

#1. Who CardV is for

CardV supplies digital products (gift cards, game credit, app and subscription credit, and prepaid mobile products) to approved businesses. It is not a consumer service.

  • You must be a registered business, or a person acting for one, and able to enter into a binding contract.
  • Every account is reviewed before it can sign in or order. We may ask for company documents and information about your sales channels, and we may refuse or withdraw approval.
  • You are responsible for everyone you invite to your team, and for keeping passwords, two-factor devices, API keys and signing secrets confidential.

#2. Ordering and delivery

  • Products, availability and your prices are shown in the Portal and returned by the API. They change often, and a product can become unavailable at any time.
  • An order is accepted when CardV confirms it. Codes are delivered in the Portal, through the API or to the system you connect, such as the WooCommerce plugin.
  • Each product has the brand's own rules: the country where it can be redeemed, its currency, its expiry and its terms of use. You must pass these to your customers.
  • Once a code has been delivered, it is treated as used. Codes cannot be returned or exchanged unless the brand or supplier confirms that the code is faulty.

#3. Balance, prices and payment

  • Orders are paid from your prepaid CardV balance, kept in US dollars. You add funds through the methods shown in the Portal.
  • The price you pay is the price confirmed for each order. Where the API or a plugin sends an expected price, an order is refused rather than charged at a higher price.
  • Exchange rates that CardV publishes for converting prices are reference rates for your own pricing. Your balance is always charged in US dollars.
  • Fees charged by your payment provider or bank are yours.

#4. Failed orders and refunds

  • If a product cannot be delivered, the order is marked failed and its amount is returned to your balance.
  • Some orders need a manual check with the supplier before they are confirmed as failed. Until then the amount stays reserved.
  • Withdrawals of an unused balance are handled on request after the account review, minus any amounts under investigation or owed to CardV.

#5. Your responsibilities as a seller

When you resell CardV products, you are the seller of record to your customers.

  • You set your own prices, decide which orders are delivered and handle your customers' support, refunds and complaints.
  • You must comply with the laws that apply to you, including consumer, tax, anti-money-laundering, sanctions and data protection laws.
  • You must not use CardV for fraud, for buying with stolen payment details, to launder money, to sell into sanctioned countries or to sanctioned persons, or in breach of a brand's resale rules.
  • You must take reasonable steps against fraud in your own store. The WooCommerce plugin's review rules help with this but do not replace your own checks.

We may suspend orders, hold balances or close an account where we see signs of fraud, chargebacks, misuse or a breach of these terms, and we may report suspected crime to the authorities.

#6. API, plugins and integrations

  • Use the API only with the keys issued to your account, within its rate limits, and as described in the developer documentation.
  • CardV plugins are open source and licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. You may use, change and share them under that licence. These terms govern the CardV service the plugins connect to.
  • Do not probe, overload or try to bypass the security of CardV systems. Report suspected vulnerabilities to [email protected].
  • We may change or retire API versions and plugin features. We aim to give notice of changes that break integrations.

#7. Brands and intellectual property

Brand names and logos belong to their owners and are shown only to describe what is available. Using CardV does not give you any right to a brand's trademarks beyond describing the products you sell. The CardV name and logo may be used only to say that your store sells CardV products.

#8. Availability and liability

  • We work to keep CardV available and secure, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance and supplier outages can pause ordering.
  • CardV is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or lost business.
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid to CardV for the orders the claim concerns in the three months before it arose.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

#9. Suspension and closing an account

You may close your account by writing to [email protected]. We may suspend or close an account under section 5, or with 30 days' notice for any other reason. On closing, any balance that is not under investigation or owed to CardV is returned to you.

#10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will tell account holders about material changes by e-mail or in the Portal before they take effect. Continuing to use CardV after that means you accept the change.
